Like Jackson said, we've got lots of new details. Although we originally didn't want to have the ceremony and reception at separate locations we've decided that doing so will save us a lot of money. The ceremony location will be the old terminal building at Bowman Field and our reception location will be the F.O.P. Lodge on Price Lane. The distance between the two locations is 15 miles, but with a map and good directions it shouldn't be a problem. That's all for now.
Ok, we've got lots of new details, including a date! (Oct. 21, 2006). I'll be updating the details page soon, but you can now safely pencil the date in on your calendars. We're also probably going to have an engagement/birthday/pickin' party on Sept 17. It'll be hosted by my mom out at her house in Brooks. More details on all of that soon!

The search is still on for a location for the ceremony and reception. You would think that it's unnecessary to look this far in advance, but we were told by several people that they already had bookings for the fall of 2006. We'll probably need to make a decision pretty soon and pay the deposit to hold our date. The two places that we really liked were rather expensive and had strict guidelines. One of the places had a four hour time limit, but you could only have the wedding either ending before 5:30 or starting after 7:30 and you couldn't come the night before to decorate or rehearse. The other place gave you an 8 hour time limit, but they didn't really have a dedicated room for a ceremony or a dressing room and they require you to use one of their approved caterers(also expensive). Finding a location for both ceremony and reception has proven very difficult so now the search is on for 2 separate locations. We're going Thursday to check out Bowman Field's terminal building as a possible location for the ceremony and we're considering the F.O.P. Lodge for the reception.

We've been busy doing all the planning that you have to do a year in advance of your anticipated wedding date. We're thinking about setting a date in October of 2006, and it's a good thing that we are planning this far ahead, because it looks like most places want at least a year's notice for booking.

I had no idea, but apparently October is now the biggest month for weddings. We have learned all sorts of things since we started planning. For example: the selection of indoor, non-church locations in which to have both ceremony and reception is limited to some pretty pricey historic homes, hotels and museums.

We've checked-out several so-far, and have appointments to see a couple more. The Clifton Center is very nice, and we would both be happy if that ends-up being the location. It is also a little bit expensive, but includes the theater, reception hall, kitchen, tables and chairs. When you take all of those into account, it doesn't look too bad.

We should have a definite date soon. When we settle on a location, we'll obviously have to tell them the date. At this point, we're thinking about the 28th of October, but like I said, nothing is definite yet.
